Child Protection

Child Protection

If you work with children and young people or are bound by a duty of confidentiality, there will be moments when you are concerned about a child or young person. There may even be a risk to a child's well-being. As a professional, you are required to conduct a risk assessment. You discuss the situation with the parents or guardians and the children or adolescents and motivate them to accept the necessary help. The most important prerequisite for any measure is that child protection is maintained.

Child protection is a joint task. Therefore, the assessment should take place in collegial consultation if possible, or even better in a multi-professional team. As a pedagogical specialist and/or as a person subject to professional confidentiality, you are entitled to consultation and process support by a child protection specialist. The consultation by the child protection specialist is anonymous or pseudonymous, so that no conclusions can be drawn about the identity of the child/adolescent and his/her family.
