Social planning in Hilden

Liveable city, strong community

What is social planning?

Put simply, social planning means recognizing social problems, working together and finding good solutions. The central aim is to work together to further improve the living conditions of people in Hilden. All citizens should be given the opportunity to participate in social life. The legal mandate arises from the social state requirement of the Basic Law.

  • Analysis & Data

The first step is to examine what is already available in Hilden and what is needed. Data is collected and evaluated. The statistical data will be supplemented by interviews with people from Hilden in order to gain a better impression of what is important to the people of Hilden, what they value, where they see a need for action and what ideas they have for improvement.

  • Participation & dialog

The opinions and ideas of citizens in the districts are also collected through surveys and the district working groups. Citizens' representatives and institutions from the district meet in the district working groups. Such working groups are to be set up in all districts in the future.

  • Joint planning

The results of the data evaluations and interviews are regularly discussed with the urban planning committee, with the social organizations in Hilden and in the district working groups. Experts from the social and cultural sectors consult with urban planning, business development, the green spaces department and city marketing in the urban planning round table. They consider which concrete measures can be implemented to further improve the social living situation for Hilden's residents within the scope of existing possibilities. The decision on the measures to be implemented will then be taken by politicians and the administration.

  • Focus on results

Social planning is not just about planning, but also about creating the best possible living conditions for the citizens of Hilden.
