Materials for daycare centers & elementary school - borrow free of charge!
Environmental awareness starts small - and preferably at an early age. This is why the waste advisory service of the city of Hilden has been providing educational materials on the subject of waste and the environment for kindergartens since 1994.
In June 2026, the range was expanded to include materials for grades 1-4.
Daycare Activity Box — with new materials!

Our tried-and-tested and newly revised action box is aimed at nursery teams and covers key topics relating to waste and sustainability - from the question of what waste actually is and where it is produced, to waste separation and the waste hierarchy, to waste avoidance, recycling and environmental problems. From children's books to games and concrete suggestions for practical work in the daycare center.
Elementary School Kit – New!

Field Trip to the Central Maintenance Yard
In addition to the loan boxes, you can also arrange a guided tour of the Central Maintenance Yard.

The children get a firsthand look at municipal waste management—with a focus on the recycling center and proper waste sorting.
This visit is recommended for children in elementary school and older.
