Every autumn, the cultural office presents a new play by the "Itterbühne" theater group. The amateur actors make the audience laugh year after year with their comedies.

In 2026, the "Itterbühne" will be showing the comedy "Topf sucht Deckel" by Christian Oberthaler on the weekend of October 2 - 4.

Die Stadt Hilden bietet seit 2026 in regelmäßigen Abständen Theatervorstellungen auf kleiner Bühne an. Dafür verwandelt sich der Heinrich-Strangmeier-Saal im Kultur- und Weiterbildungszentrum Altes Helmholtz, Gerresheimer Straße 20 in einen Theatersaal und die 1. Etage des Gebäudes in ein Theaterfoyer.

The first professional theater performance in this context can be seen on May 9, 2026 at the Altes Helmholtz Cultural and Further Education Center, Gerresheimer Straße 20 in Hilden. In the Heinrich Strangmeier Hall there, the "ensemble déjà-vu" from Bonn will present the play "Die Befristeten" by Elias Canetti.

The neanderland BIENNALE is a district-wide theater festival with a local focus, organized every two years by the district of Mettmann in cooperation with the cities of Erkrath, Haan, Heiligenhaus, Hilden, Langenfeld, Mettmann, Monheim am Rhein, Ratingen, Velbert and Wülfrath. The focus is on theater productions at sometimes unusual venues throughout neanderland, often outdoors. Each edition takes place under a special motto.
