Every autumn, the cultural office presents a new play by the "Itterbühne" theater group. The amateur actors make the audience laugh year after year with their comedies.

In 2026, the "Itterbühne" will be showing the comedy "Topf sucht Deckel" by Christian Oberthaler on the weekend of October 2 - 4.

The city of Hilden has been offering theater performances on a small stage at regular intervals since 2026. The Heinrich-Strangmeier-Saal in the Altes Helmholtz cultural and further education center at Gerresheimer Straße 20 is transformed into a theater hall and the first floor of the building into a theater foyer.

The first professional theater performance in this context can be seen on May 9, 2026 at the Altes Helmholtz Cultural and Further Education Center, Gerresheimer Straße 20 in Hilden. In the Heinrich Strangmeier Hall there, the "ensemble déjà-vu" from Bonn will present the play "Die Befristeten" by Elias Canetti.

The neanderland BIENNALE is a district-wide theater festival with a local focus, organized every two years by the district of Mettmann in cooperation with the cities of Erkrath, Haan, Heiligenhaus, Hilden, Langenfeld, Mettmann, Monheim am Rhein, Ratingen, Velbert and Wülfrath. The focus is on theater productions at sometimes unusual venues throughout neanderland, often outdoors. Each edition takes place under a special motto.
