The range of products offered by major brand-name companies such as Peek & Cloppenburg, Saturn, H&M, Deichmann or C&A is supplemented by numerous small boutiques and specialist stores where the focus is on personal advice. The weekly market and several supermarkets complete the offer. Whether it's a business lunch, a lunch break or a quick snack - whether it's fish, bistro cuisine, home cooking, a coffee standing up or enjoying the sun and a beer at the market, the range of Hilden's gastronomy is varied and good.

Numerous events complete the picture of a lively city center. Hilden's city marketing organizes the Hilden artists' market, book markets, the fashion show, the car show, gourmet days, the annual Christmas market and much more.

At the same time, Hilden's city center is always easy to reach: on foot, by bike, by bus and train, or by car.

The city center can be reached quickly via a well-developed network of bicycle paths, the bus stops "Fritz Gressard Platz" and "Gabelung" are located directly in the pedestrian zone, and motorists can park cheaply, centrally and conveniently in the city center parking garages.

The centrality index of 123.5% proves that considerably more visitors come to Hilden to shop than live locally. This applies equally to purchasing power: boosted by an above-average purchasing power of 108.4%, the sales ratio here is 133.9%, well above the national average (source: Michael Bauer Research GmbH, Nuremberg 2023).

    Stadtmarketing Hilden GmbH
    With the founding of Stadtmarketing Hilden GmbH on April 1, 2005, a long-standing objective of the city marketing association became reality: the professional continuation of the previous work by a full-time managing director, in order to better meet the increasing demands on city marketing and expanding fields of activity. Stadtmarketing Hilden GmbH acts as a link between citizens, business, politics and administration to promote the attractiveness of the city of Hilden and to secure it in the long term.

    On 22.2.2000 the today's city marketing association was lifted as registered association from the
    baptism. The purpose of the association was aligned to future concerns and ambitious goals:

    • Principle of voluntariness
    • Exclusion of party-political, denominational and professional considerations
    • Cooperation of all forces interested in the well-being of the location Hilden
  • Weekly markets

    In Hilden there is the opportunity to shop at the weekly market three times a week:

    • Main Market (on Nové Město Square in the city center)
      • Wednesdays: 07:00 - 13:00
      • saturdays: 07:00 - 13:30
    • Nordmarkt (in the parking lot between Beethovenstraße and Lortzingstraße)
      • Fridays: 09:00 - 16:30

    Necessary documents

    The following documents must be submitted with the written informal application:

    • a travel business card or a business license for a standing business
    • for original enterprises a corresponding proof of the tax office
    • a picture of the sales stand/vending cart with size information (length, depth, height in meters)
    • a precise description of the goods to be offered for sale

    After submission of these documents, it will be checked in a timely manner whether the trader will be offered a stand space. Depending on the number of applications, there may be a waiting list.
