Creative offers

In Hilden, there is not only a lot to see, but also becoming creative yourself is possible for every age group. In addition, creative offerings also promote personal development and well-being.

  • Children and Youth Art School KuKuK

The courses at the KuKuK children's and youth art school are not just about encouraging creativity. In addition to learning, the aim is always to have fun together. Information on the courses offered by the KuKuK children's and youth art school can be obtained from the City of Hilden's cultural department by calling 02103 72-1237 or by emailing kukuk@hilden.de.

  • Wilhelm Fabry Sponsorship Award 2023

For many years, the city of Hilden has awarded the Wilhelm Fabry Promotion Prize. The prize of 4,000 euros is an award to young talents with which the city of Hilden promotes artistic careers and professions, limited to North Rhine-Westphalia. The jury consists of at least 2 expert jurors as well as members of the Committee for Culture and Local Heritage and employees of the Department of Culture of the City of Hilden.

The most recent awards were in 2023 in the fields of "Poetry as a form of expression in poetry slam texts" and "Short stories".

  • Kulturrucksack NRW

Cultural education can make a significant contribution to the personal development of young people. However, the prerequisite is to open the door to art and culture for all children and young people as early and as widely as possible.

North Rhine-Westphalia has a particularly rich cultural landscape. This includes outstanding municipal theaters, but also independent theaters and many museums that invite people to engage with art and history, as well as concert halls, choirs, dance companies, literature houses, cultural festivals, youth centers and sociocultural centers. All these competencies are to be used to make North Rhine-Westphalia a "children's and youth culture state" together with the municipalities. To this end, there should be many exciting age-appropriate cultural offerings that are not only accessible to all children and young people, but also affordable.

For this reason, the state has launched a state program together with the municipalities and cultural institutions: the Kulturrucksack Nordrhein-Westfalen. The Ministry of Culture provides around 3 million euros annually for this purpose. The aim of the statewide project is to provide all children and young people with free or significantly reduced-cost cultural opportunities.
