Every year in autumn the cultural office presents the premiere of a new play of the theater group "Itterbühne". With comedies, the amateur actors make the audience laugh year after year. Due to the great demand, there are repeat performances at the beginning of the following year.

The neanderland BIENNALE is a district-wide theater festival with a local focus, organized every two years by the district of Mettmann in cooperation with the cities of Erkrath, Haan, Heiligenhaus, Hilden, Langenfeld, Mettmann, Monheim am Rhein, Ratingen, Velbert and Wülfrath. The focus is on theater productions at sometimes unusual venues throughout neanderland, often outdoors. Each edition takes place under a special motto.
