Theater

The city of Hilden does not currently offer its own theater program.

  • People's Theater

    Every autumn, the cultural office presents the premiere of a new play by the "Itterbühne" theater group. The amateur actors make the audience laugh year after year with their comedies.

  • Theater "on a small scale"

    Professional theater performances on a small scale, i.e. in a small hall with a manageable number of performers, are currently in preparation.


    The Cultural Office is expected to host at least one performance in the Heinrich Strangmeier Hall at the Altes Helmholtz Cultural and Further Education Center as early as 2026.

  • neanderland BIENNALE

    The neanderland BIENNALE is a district-wide theater festival with a local focus, organized every two years by the district of Mettmann in cooperation with the cities of Erkrath, Haan, Heiligenhaus, Hilden, Langenfeld, Mettmann, Monheim am Rhein, Ratingen, Velbert and Wülfrath. The focus is on theater productions at sometimes unusual venues throughout neanderland, often outdoors. Each edition takes place under a special motto.


    The next neanderland BIENNALE will take place from June 5 to 26, 2027.
