Dirt Away Day
February 28, 2026, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Get stuck in - have fun and do good, because Hilden is important to us!
On Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, this year's Dreck-Weg-Tag will take place in Hilden. Under the motto "Tackle it yourself - have fun and do good, because Hilden is important to us!", all citizens are invited to get actively involved in keeping the city clean and liveable.
Unfortunately, garbage does not always end up where it belongs. Although the city of Hilden's central building yard regularly cleans the entire city area, carelessly discarded litter continues to accumulate, especially in places where people linger or take breaks. Even after a short time, these areas appear unkempt. However, well-kept areas contribute significantly to a positive cityscape and increase the quality of life in Hilden.
The "Dreck-Weg-Tag" has been firmly established in Hilden for many years as a community waste collection campaign. The campaign is carried out in cooperation with Hilden Clean Team e.V. and Stadtmarketing Hilden e.V. and is aimed at citizens of all age groups, school classes from primary and secondary schools, clubs, initiatives, neighborhoods and businesses. For schools in particular, the Dirt Away Day offers a good opportunity to experience environmental education in a practical, local and communal way.
As part of the campaign, garbage is collected in public spaces. Garbage bags and gloves will be handed out at the following meeting points:
- Playground at Schalbruch
- Hildorado (at Holterhöfchen)
- Lindenplatz (parking lot)
- P+R parking lot at McDonald's
Participation is possible for individuals as well as for groups and school classes. Prior registration is required for better planning.
At the end of the action day, all participants are invited to a get-together in the inner courtyard of the Wilhelm Fabry Museum. In case of bad weather, the event will end in the museum's barrel room. As a thank you for their commitment, Stadtmarketing Hilden e.V. will provide a small lunch and drinks for all helpers.
The city of Hilden and its cooperation partners are looking forward to a lively participation and to taking responsibility together - because Hilden is important to us.
