Elderly people and relatives

Prolonged periods of summer heat are particularly troublesome for older people. The risk increases with age because the body's ability to cool itself through sweating decreases. Older people also have a lack of thirst and therefore drink too little, which further reduces their ability to sweat. Due to the lack of perspiration, the body can quickly heat up to a dangerous temperature in hot weather. Being in need of help and social isolation can also lead to measures such as drinking enough and cooling indoor spaces not being taken.
