Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Contents and procedure

Independent and certified energy consultants assess your building as part of the energy caravan - individually and free of charge. The consultation covers the following points:

    • Information on energy-related weak points in the area of thermal insulation and building services
    • Identifying potential savings through energy-efficient refurbishment
    • Use of renewable energy technologies
    • Overview of all available funding options

The supplier- and product-neutral energy consultation lasts approximately one hour and takes place directly on site - in your own four walls. All recommendations are recorded in a brief report.

  • How can I take advantage of an energy consultation?

All owners of detached and semi-detached houses in the neighborhood will receive a personal invitation to the kick-off event by post during the campaign period, as well as information about the project and opportunities to register. We will also provide information on the progress of the campaign via our homepage, Instagram and Facebook channel and the local press. You can register using the reply slip sent to you or digitally.

Please note the information on "What happens after my registration".

  • What happens after my registration?

Once you have successfully registered via the online form, you will receive an automatically generated e-mail confirming your registration. We will then assign your registration to an energy consultant and send them your contact details. The energy consultant will contact you directly within a short time and arrange a personal appointment within the campaign period (May 26 to July 12, 2025). During this period, the energy consultants will have sufficient time available for the consultations. Please understand that it may take some time to make contact.

  • Destination of the energy caravan

The aim of the service is to provide guidance and highlight possible courses of action to increase the renovation rate and reduce energy requirements in private households. With the recommended measures, homeowners can not only save energy and heating costs, but also make an active contribution to climate protection.

  • For which buildings are the energy consultations offered?

As a rule, energy consumption per household is highest in private detached and semi-detached houses. This is why these buildings, which were mostly built before 1979 and in some cases have not yet undergone energy-efficient refurbishment, have the greatest potential for savings.

  • Which neighborhood is the energy caravan coming to?

As part of the energy caravan, qualified consultants will initially come to the south of Hilden.

  • Why is the energy caravan so important?

The local greenhouse gas emissions balance for 2021 shows that 71% of final energy consumption in the city of Hilden was used for electricity (17%) and heating (54%). Energy consumption in the "private households" sector amounted to 7,407.4 kWh/inhabitant in the reporting year. In total, this means that almost a third of the total final energy consumption in the city (408 GWh) was consumed by residents.

In order to reduce the final energy consumption of private households and the resulting greenhouse gas emissions, the targeted activation of owners of private buildings with high energy consumption (generally detached and semi-detached houses that were built before 1979 and have not yet undergone energy-efficient refurbishment) is required.
